On the 19th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, U.S. President Joe Biden marked the solemn day with a call to remember and honor those who lost their lives that day and to reject division in favor of unity and healing.
In a statement released by the White House, Biden said the anniversary “reminds us of the thousands of lives suddenly and prematurely lost, of the countless families changed forever, of the bravery of the first responders who risked their own lives to help others, and of the unity and resilience of the American people in the face of hatred and terror.”
Biden called on Americans to “honor their memory not only through words, but also through action, by rejecting division and by combating the hatred that took their lives 19 years ago.”
The President concluded his statement by calling on the country to “measure our actions against the only real standard that matters — the example of courage and love and compassion set by those we lost.”
