GOP lawmakers have accused Hunter Biden of having a cozy relationship with a prominent Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-linked businessman, citing “damning evidence” of questionable activity involving the Biden family and China. Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) have both accused Hunter Biden of murky dealings with Zhang Yida, the chairman of Financial Technology (FT) Group, which is deeply affiliated with the CCP. Banks said that Hunter Biden and Yida had “personal meetings,” which “would be concerning enough,” and pointed to a report from Axios citing emails that suggest Hunter Biden facilitated a major business deal between FT and U.S. private equity firm Rosemont Seneca. “This raises serious questions about whether Hunter Biden used the Biden family name to enrich himself and his associate,” Banks said in a statement. Additionally, Blackburn noted that such activities could pose security threats to the U.S. “Now, we have to ask how much of that was compromised or influenced by the fact that we now know Hunter Biden was directly dealing with another Beijing connected individual,” she said.
