Joe Biden has strongly condemned Hamas’s latest attack on Israel, saying that it is “evil” and “unconscionable.” He has also called on Iran and Hamas to release Americans they are currently holding hostage.
In a statement, the president highlighted the plight of those held captive and the negative impact of conflict in the region. He expressed his solidarity with all of those affected by the violence, including Americans who may be in harm’s way. Biden said, “Americans and others across the region are currently being held hostage by two nations, Iran and Hamas, and I call on both of them to release those individuals immediately and unharmed.”
Biden emphasized his commitment to helping “find a path to peace and security” for the region, saying that he is willing to work with any nation willing to help. He continued, “The United States is now working with our partners in the Middle East to bring an end to this violence and find a path toward peace and stability. No nation, no families, and no human beings should ever live in fear of violence, or attacks like this.”
