The United Auto Workers (UAW) announced on Thursday, November 5, 2020 that it was expanding strike activity to include a major truck plant in Kentucky. The strike began a week ago at General Motors (GM) facilities across the U.S. and is now being broadened to include the Ford Motor Company Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. The UAW has been bargaining with GM for more than a month on a new labor agreement, but talks broke down abruptly last week over wages, job security and other issues. At the Ford plant, the union is seeking higher wages, more job security and greater investment in health and safety for its members. The strike is expected to have a major impact on production at the plant, which produces various versions of the F-150 pickup truck.
