The McClatchy Political Action Committee, a super PAC aligned with Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, has reportedly pulled the plug on its ad campaign in support of his possible 2024 presidential run.
According to Politico, the PAC announced it is halting its ad campaign after it found that Scott’s support among the GOP base was not growing despite the senator’s extensive outreach and travel for his 204 presidential campaign.
The PAC had been running ads across the country touting Scott’s conservative record on issues including taxes, healthcare, and crime.
Scott is one of the Republicans being mentioned as a potential long-shot 2024 presidential candidate, but his candidacy has been struggling to gain traction in recent months.
The ad pull by the PAC is being seen by analysts as a sign that Scott is struggling to gain traction with GOP voters. It remains to be seen whether the senator will be able to turn things around and gain more support among Republican voters in time for the 2024 presidential primaries.
