Starbucks recently announced a major expansion plan to add 17,000 locations to its empire by 2030. The coffee giant, which currently operates more than 45,000 locations worldwide, plans to focus heavily on rebuilding and refurbishing existing locations as well as developing new stores in underserved regions.
The chain’s expansion goals are part of its “Anticipate the Future” initiative, which focuses on a holistic approach to the company’s development. This is a continuation of the company’s current strategy of focusing on developing regions, providing quality coffee in all areas, and encouraging sustainable practices.
The locations to be added as part of the company’s expansion plan will include more than 1,100 new “Reserve” stores, Starbucks’ higher-end locations. Starbucks has said that it will prioritize the development of stores in Sub-Saharan Africa, which currently has very limited access to Starbucks locations. Other regions the chain is planning to expand into include India and South America.
In addition to its expansion plans, Starbucks also announced a commitment to hire 10,000 veterans and military spouses over the next five years. The company has also increased its focus on off-premises delivery in order to meet customer demand.
