The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to expedite a ruling on whether President Donald Trump has immunity from a defamation lawsuit from a former “Apprentice” contestant. The court’s decision means that the case will likely remain tied up in the lengthy court process for many more months, as the court will have to go through the lower courts before ruling on Trump’s claim. Trump’s lawyers had sought to bypass the usual court process and allow the case to be decided quickly by the Supreme Court. The justices, however, unanimously declined to do so, meaning that the case will proceed through the lower courts.
