The Gaza-Israel border reopened between the Gaza Strip and southern Israel on Monday following a rare act of terror from the Hamas terror group last week. The attack had killed a 19-year-old Israeli soldier and injured another soldier and a civilian along the Israel-Gaza border.
The crisis was calmed by a deal between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt. Under the deal, both sides pledged to restore calm. In response, Israel promised to open the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is the main trade passage between Israel and Gaza.
There is also a long-standing seminary for Israeli Jews located near the Kerem Shalom crossing. The seminary and local area had been put on high alert following the terror attack. Now, however, the seminary has reopened to students and classes have begun again.
