Supreme Court faces pressure to decide if Trump is on the 2024 ballot

    • December 31, 2023
    • admin
The Supreme Court of the United States is facing increasing pressure to decide on whether or not former President Donald Trump will be allowed to appear on the 2024 ballot. The decision could significantly shape the Republican Presidential Primary race, as Trump has indicated he intends to run for president again. The issue currently before the court is whether Trump’s actions as president surrounding the violent siege of the U.S. Capitol in January should be considered a violation of the Constitution and thus render him unable to run for president in 2024. Trump’s lawyers maintain that the issue is moot, as a decision would not impact the current election. However, Democratic and even some Republican lawmakers are ardently pushing the court to make a decision, believing that such an action is necessary to protect the integrity of the election system. The matter is further complicated by the fact that Trump retains strong support among the Republican base, and some fear a court ruling against him could be seen as purely political and stir up further controversy. The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision in the near future, and many will be watching closely to see how they rule.
