As of February 4, 2021, the FBI has arrested over 400 people in connection with the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Five individuals have been charged with assaulting Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Fanone, including William Ryan Williams, a 36-year-old from Alabama. Williams is charged with assaulting Fanone with a chemical spray, obstruction of law enforcement, and engaging in physical violence.
In addition, other individuals have been charged with various crimes including trespassing, disorderly conduct, destruction of government property, civil disorder, unlawful entry, and aiding and abetting. The charges are based on video evidence, photographs, and other sources.
The FBI has stated that it expects to make additional arrests in connection with the unrest and continue to track down people who were present during the event.
