Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, an ally of President Donald Trump, has recently questioned the president’s electability, citing multiple political polling data that shows Trump’s support slipping in key states like Florida.
In an interview on Fox News, DeSantis said: “I’m looking at polling data, you know, the [polling averages] show that [Trump] is losing in Florida — obviously, the states he won in 2016 — and I’m looking to see if that’s going to change, what he has to do.”
He further said, “I think he can win, but, you know, those numbers are not good. I’m constantly looking at the data. I don’t think anyone should be complacent – we have to run a great race.”
DeSantis also said that he believes the president should “embrace the issues that are most important to Floridians,” including “jobs, supporting veterans, freeing up the economy and standing with law enforcement.”
The governor’s comments come as recent polls have shown the president slipping in battleground states that he won in 2016, including Florida, where a Fox News poll released Sunday showed Joe Biden with an 8-point lead.
