Disney and Charter have reached a deal to end a cable blackout that began on Sept. 16. The blackout affected millions of customers of Charter’s subsidiary Spectrum in most of its 41 states and left Disney’s suite of networks, including ABC, ESPN and Disney Channel, unavailable.
The new agreement restores access to Disney’s networks shortly before the start of “Monday Night Football” on ESPN at 8:15 pm ET.
Although the companies have not released details of the new agreement, they said in a joint statement that they were “pleased to have reached an agreement that promptly restores these services.”
Disney stated that it is “happy that Spectrum customers will be able to watch ESPN’s acclaimed ‘Monday Night Football’ tonight as scheduled. We apologize for the inconvenience that Charter’s dispute caused our viewers, and we are pleased to have reached this agreement.”
Charter stated that it is “grateful that our customers will be able to return to viewing Disney’s channels and programming. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding during the dispute.”
