Vitalik Buterin, the cofounder of Ethereum, is known to have sent a total of 400 ETH (or Ether, the crypto-currency of the Ethereum blockchain) to Coinbase in order to purchase Bitcoin in the past 10 days. This is part of a larger trend seen in Buterin, who is known to transfer tokens and crypto-currency among different exchanges, wallets and services.
In total, Buterin has sent 2421 ETH, worth approximately USD 10 million, to various cryptocurrency exchanges over the past 10 days. This amounts to almost 0.5% of his personal holdings, which are estimated to be worth roughly USD 1.87 billion as of April 23, 2021.
Although it is unclear which exchanges Buterin has been transferring the ETH to, it is likely that this is part of a wider trend of spread diversification into different exchanges, CEXs, wallets, and services. This could be seen as a strategy of reducing risk by spreading cryptocurrency to various types of storage facilities.
