On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed a “clean” stopgap funding bill that would keep government funding running through the end of this fiscal year, effectively averting a government shutdown. The bill, which passed 315-109, extends funding for all federal departments and agencies through September 30 and does not include any contentious language concerning immigration policy or other issues. This puts an end to weeks of negotiations between House Republicans and the White House and avoids a partial government shutdown that would have begun on Saturday. The bill now moves to the Senate where it is expected to pass easily.
