The Fantom Foundation, a Singapore-based blockchain organization, has suffered from a major security breach resulting in the loss of around $6.7 million worth of Ether (ETH). According to a statement released by the foundation, hackers exploited a vulnerability in one of the software packages used by the company to gain access to its wallets. The foundation has temporarily disabled its mainnet, token distribution platform, and hot wallets while it investigates the incident. A statement from the foundation states that it is “working closely with its third-party auditors, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to fix the issue and to ensure all user funds are refunded in full.” The foundation further confirmed that its security and protocols have been reviewed and strengthened and that it is taking all necessary steps to establish a more robust security architecture to prevent future incidents.
