So far in this series of Bible modems and the network between us posts, we have talked about the importance of having a community connection. We have discussed the need for fellowship that only a local church can provide. We have also discussed the various ways we can build those connections with one another. Today, we’re going to look at some practical steps we can take to build community connections while still using our Bible modems.
First of all, we need to make sure that we are not isolating ourselves from the church community. This can be a challenge, especially for those of us who are more introverted and don’t really like to be in large groups of people. But it’s important to remember that the Bible tells us to “Love one another” (John 13:34). The church should be a place of welcome and support and acceptance for everyone in the body of Christ. So it’s important to make sure that even if we’re not actively involved in church activities, we’re still making an effort to remain connected to the church family.
Second, we need to remember the importance of online relationships. There are a lot of great resources available to us that can help us to stay in touch with one another and build meaningful connections through our Bible modems and computers. These tools can be used to share prayer requests, encourage one another, and just spend time with one another virtually. We can use social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, SMS and MMS messages, or even just email or video chat. Whatever tools we decide to use, we should always focus on honoring God with our words and honoring the individuals we communicate with.
Finally, we should never forget that ultimately, the true source of community connection lies within the hearts of each of us. We should strive to go beyond superficial relationships and make real connections with those around us. Knowing the people in our church on a deeper level will enrich the fellowship that we experience on Sunday, give us a more fulfilling sense of community, and allow us to better share the love of God with others.
