Anheuser-Busch’s top marketing executive, Andy Goeler, is leaving the company after sales of Bud Light, the world’s top-selling beer, collapsed during the pandemic. Goeler, who has been with Anheuser-Busch since 2010 and was named its chief marketing officer in 2015, will leave the company this fall, according to a press release. Goeler was responsible for developing the company’s “Drink Responsibly” campaign and launching the popular “Bud Light Party” campaign, which was heavily promoted at sporting events. Despite these efforts, the pandemic has caused a drop in beer sales, with Bud Light’s only up 3.2% in 2020 after experiencing a 31.1% drop in sales during the second quarter of the year.
