Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt announced his resignation from the GM-owned self-driving car company on Wednesday, saying he plans to focus on “founding and building new technology companies.” Vogt had been in charge of Cruise since its founding in 2013 and played a key role in helping the automaker deploy its first self-driving vehicles on city streets. Vogt will continue to serve as an advisor to GM and Cruise during the transition period. GM said it will begin looking for a new CEO to continue leading the development and commercialization of Cruise’s autonomous vehicle technology.
