According to a report published by the Bank of Russia, the number of people investing in cryptocurrencies is falling in the country. The report, which was published on its website on June 11, showed that the number of “crypto investors” dropped by 10% in April 2020 compared to the same period last year. The central bank noted that the decrease was likely due to a drop in crypto prices as well as the “uncertain” legal status of cryptocurrencies in Russia. The number of people trading cryptocurrencies in Russia is now estimated to be around 122,000, down from 136,000 in April of last year. Despite the decrease in the number of crypto traders, the report noted that the rate of crypto transactions is increasing, with the total number of completed transactions now up to 8.2 million, compared to 5.8 million in April 2019. The report also noted that the number of crypto wallets has increased significantly in the past year, from 5.5 million as of April 2019 to 7.8 million as of April 2020. In addition, the report revealed that the number of active crypto exchanges in the country now stands at around 42, up from 13 in April 2019.
