Three Georgia poll workers who won a $148 million defamation settlement from former President Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani are suing him again. The three former poll workers, working in Fulton County, Georgia, sued Giuliani in January 2021 alleging he had defamed them on numerous occasions during multiple appearances on Fox News. The lawsuit claimed he falsely accused them of rigging the 2020 presidential election.
In March 2021, the parties reached a settlement agreement in which Giuliani agreed to pay the poll workers $148 million in exchange for a permanent injunction preventing them for further pursuing the lawsuit. Now, the poll workers are back in court alleging Giuliani has failed to abide by the settlement agreement.
The new lawsuit claims Giuliani has spoken publicly about the poll workers, their families, and their employment numerous times since March 2021. The poll workers allege these statements were defamatory and in direct breach of the settlement agreement. They are seeking an injunction ordering Giuliani to stop defaming them, as well as damages to be determined at trial.
