U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., has called on the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena the unredacted Jeffrey Epstein flight logs as its first official act.
Epstein was a convicted sex offender who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
In a statement released Thursday evening, Blackburn place the blame for the committee’s lack of response “squarely” at the feet of its chairman, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
“For now, it’s been revealed that public figures ranging from the President of the United States to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia could be implicated in this heinous event,” Blackburn stated. “Chairman Durbin’s reticence in pursuing this matter only further underscores the public urgency for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death. As the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee it is his responsibility to use whatever authority he has to ensure the truth comes out.”
The statement added that Blackburn is requesting “a subpoena for unredacted flight logs be issued as the committee’s first act.”
“The failure to investigate this matter with the urgency it deserves will only serve to leave the public with more questions than answers,” Blackburn stated.
